Silk Road (シルクロード, Shiruku Rōdo, Silk Road) is the 20th sub-chapter of Stories of Legend. It was added in Version 3.0 and is available up to 4♛ difficulty.

Difficulty[]

Silk Road is by far the hardest sub-chapter up to this point. Every stage here is at least somewhat challenging and requires a different strategy, so expect to change your lineup frequently. Having most (if not all) of the Crazed Cats and True Form Normal Cats is highly recommended for this sub-chapter.

One of the hardest stages is Marco Po Road, which becomes almost unbeatable if the player doesn't win fast enough, and doing so isn't easy due to the presence of Teacher Bun Bun and the sheer amount of HP on the enemy base. However, it can be cheesed using Li'l Tank Cat. Another one of the hardest stages is Godiego Pass, which contains three Dober P.Ds. Unlike Pigpen Taboo, however, the stage gives the player a source of money throughout the battle.

  • 2♛ difficulty for this sub-chapter multiplies enemy strength magnifications by 140%.
  • 3♛ difficulty for this sub-chapter multiplies enemy strength magnifications by 160%.
  • 4♛ difficulty for this sub-chapter multiplies enemy strength magnifications by 140% and only allows Special Cats and Rare Cats to be deployed.

New Features[]

This sub-chapter introduces three new enemies:

  • Ginger Snache: A Red enemy with many knockbacks and good movement speed and attack damage. Often appears in large groups.
  • Wall Doge: A defensive enemy with high health, low damage, slow movement speed and very short range. Can be considered an enemy counterpart of Wall Cat.
  • Sunfish Jones: An Angel enemy with massive health, exceptional range and the ability to slow down cats.
  • While not his first appearance in-game, Super Metal Hippoe is introduced to Stories of Legend here. He has high health and knockbacks for a Metal enemy, moderate damage, fast movement speed and a guaranteed chance to knockback cats he hits.

Trivia[]

  • The name of this sub-chapter is a direct reference to the Silk Road, which was a trade route primarily supplying spices across the East and Western landmass. It started from the second millennium BC and is now a railroad, as constructed in 2013 according to the Belt and Road initiative.
  • Godiego Pass is named after the Japanese band Godiego, while Gandara's Rest and Monkey Magic are references to the songs "Gandhara" and "Monkey Magic" from Godiego's Magic Monkey LP. One of the lyrics to "Gandhara", "His very own utopia," is also referenced by Utopia is Over There.
  • Since they're all part of the same sub-chapter, the stages Monkey Magic, Outsider's Gate, Pig Swill and Imp's cold sweat may be referencing the Chinese novel Journey to the West. Outsider's Gate's Japanese name is Foreign Land's Gate, which would represent the travelers crossing over to a dvipa in chapter 22, while the other three stages would be referencing Sun Wukong (a monkey), Zhu Bajie (a pig) and Sha Wujing (often depicted as a kappa, which are mentioned in Imp's cold sweat's Japanese name).
